Home!

I’ve been home in Ontario for two weeks now (almost anyways) so its about time I blogged! lol. The move back was relatively smooth. Had a blast doing the roadtrip cam from the car, was great to have you guys keep me company on what would have been an otherwise boring trip. The only trouble we had was in Montreal (we being me and my friend who drove me- otherwise known as Mr. X rofl).

We got to the hotel, which was downtown and a chain hotel (*cough*HolidayInnFuckers*cough*) and when we went to check in, they told us we’d have to pay $35 per pet. I was travelling with two dogs and two cats…so that would have been friggin $140 plus tax!!!! On top of the actual room fee! So I was like “errr hell no” and told them there was no way I was paying that much. They were like “well its for the room cleaning fee”, and I was like “are the cleaning ladies going to clean the room four times?” and they were like “well, no they only clean once” and I was like “then why the hell do you need to charge me four room-cleaning fees if they’re going to clean the room just once?” haha. So they waived three of the fee’s for me, thank god. I’ve NEVER heard of a hotel doing that…the Best Western we stayed in, in NB only charged us $10 to have the pets there. I mean, the pets don’t make any mess at all, I cleaned up after the cats (litter box) and the dogs don’t make any kind of mess. ANYWAYS…so that was just the first problematic part of the Montreal stay. We got up to the room, only to see how effing nasty it was. The bathroom was the size of half a closet, and it looked more like a public restroom than a hotel bathroom. It had a stall toilet in it…ick. Now if we were staying in a 1 or 2 star hotel, I’d get it, but this was a chain hotel that was a 3 star so I’d at least expect a bit more from it- especially since they charged me $200 for one nite!

Gross washroom:

And the wallpaper was literally coming off the walls! Like how effed up is that? Look at how gross this is!

Other things that were wrong:

- I found a pair of used rubber gloves just sitting in the hallway – barf
-All of the vending machines on every floor I went to (I went to floor 1-5, and 7-9) were broken.
-We wanted to leave the hotel to go grab poutine and do some sightseeing (and get away from the gross room) but we found out that we’d be charged $27 everytime we wanted to get the car out of valet parking…even though we had ALREADY paid the $27 valet fee. So we were basically held hostage at the hotel unless we wanted to pay for valet to get our car, or pay for cab. Fuck that.
-I compromised and ordered poutine via room service, thinking “hey its Montreal, they can’t fuck up poutine right?”. WRONG. The poutine came with processed, shredded mozza cheese on it…not cheese curds. How can they fuck up poutine in Montreal? I actually broke down and cried lol…I was so looking forward to Montreal because its my favorite city in the world and this was such a disappointing stay. :(

So we ended up deciding to fall asleep as soon as we got there (around 3pm) and wake up around midnite to get the hell out of there. There was no point in sitting around a dingy hotel room all afternoon doing nothing…so we slept and left around midnite to start our final leg of the trip. And it went great. We stopped at a gas station outside Montreal and the guy that worked there was so nice…we told him about our stay in Montreal and he felt horrible and gave us free cheese curds! :D Sooo yummy. But the rest of the trip was great…clear blue skies, and made it home in good time!!!

I was so so happy to get home to my new apartment and I’m loving it here so far! The building is great, landlord is so helpful and friendly, neighbors are lovely…its a great place to call home :) I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to those who’ve helped me get settled in and started up. Between the Amazon and Sears giftcards, to the gifts bought off my wishlist, to those sending extra big tips my way to help me with startup costs – you ALL have helped make this move less stressful and more happy and excited. My house is becoming a home now, and that is thanks to all of you. :)

So now I’m back to camming fulltime and its been great fun so far :) My original quest was for top 20 this month, but I don’t think..in fact, I KNOW its not going to happen :( I took a few days off to unpack and that effed me over, even though I had a great first start to the month. Unless I get hit with a few huge ass tips, I won’t even get close. I’m sorry guys :( I failed. Maybe another month though…we’ll try again I guess. But if I can crack the top 100 or even the top 50, I’ll consider that an accomplishment because I’ve never done that yet!

I’ll stop rambling now and get some work done. I’m making a yummy shrimp and corn chowder for dinner from a new cookbook I recieved (thanks Thomas!!! ) and I can’t wait to nom nom nommmm it. lol. <3
